HO Layout To Raise Funds!

Museum directors Dave Vago and Red Payne take a look at a nearly completed 4' x 8' HO layout to be raffled off for Christmas. The custom built layout is complete with buildings, scenery, engine and cars representing heritage rail lines of West Virginia. The raffle is set for December 19 at 5 p.m. and one does not have to be present to win. The winner also has the option to take $500 instead of the layout.

The idea came from Museum Board member Denver Barnett and along with Barnett, over 400 hours were donated to the project by Bill Wade, Diane Wade, Jim Schoonover, Ed Griesel and Dave Vargo.

Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $20. Expenses have already been covered so what tickets are sold represent direct funding for Museum efforts. Tickets can be purchased by sending a check to the West Virginia Railroad Musuem, Inc. at PO Box 203, Elkins, WV 26241. One may also use a credit card by sending the standard card information needed as used for any item from the Company Store.

As and extra fund raising component, Elkins area merchants purchased billboards on the layout or had their names put on a building.
