The Annual Membership Meeting of the West Virginia Railroad Museum, Inc. has been postponed until after March 1. The reason for the postponement is an anticipated snow storm Friday and Saturday in the Elkins area, and region. Some 6-10 inches of snow is expected to the areas west of Elkins and Randolph County and 12-16 inches of snowfall is expected by Saturday evening at Elkins. Amounts approaching 20 inches are possible in the mountain east of the city.

Museum president, Jim Schoonover, made the call early Friday morning and said that it would be at least the first of March before the meeting could be held. When a date is finialized it will be announced on the Museum web site.

The snow is thought to be of a similar amount that fell earlier in the season. The Santa Claus Special of the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad is pictured here after that snowfall in front of the former Western Maryland depot in Elkins, the site of the membership meeting. The snowfall could even be worse than the Christmas week snow as forecasts note the snow will be wet and officials are expecting some tree limbs to fall and anticipate the possiblility of power outages in the region.
